How the various questions and topics are grabbed by art students with different cultural background through the contemporary art language? Questions which are raised globally and topics which are articulated in the human microenvironment. What kind of answers do the artists have in order to respond to the problems of globalisation, current migration, or other political, ecological, economical and social issues? How the artists can digest the problems of their personal existence? How do they try to meet the challenge of the 21st century technical and professional world through contemporary artistic graphic? How does a young entrant artist think of his own work? How do tradition and innovation prevail in contemporary artistic graphic?
Exibition Graphics Open² – focusing on red-hot artistic graphics – will be opened in Barcsay Hall at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. The exhibition comes to alive in the collaboration of seven Central European institutes. Croatian, Polish, Austrian, Romanian and Slovakian art institutes and universities will show their students’ works together with the Hungarian students’ artifacts. The event is organized by the Graphics Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts.
First time Graphics Open was organized in 2012 which meant really a success in the circle of professionals and to the audience. Five years later we thought to call and invite again the most important universities and academies of the region to show the work, have been made inside their walls, in Budapest. The reason for the event is rooted in our experience interlinked with the changes in the field of graphics. We are curiously looking forward how the audience will accept the appearance and the application of new media, and how the works produced by classical and modern technical procedures will be evaluated.
The other significant goal of Graphics Open² is to show the results of higher education in graphics through which the tutors’ and the instructors’ positions are also mirrored. The exhibition provides an opportunity for the graphics students of the invited Central European institutes to get to know the various tendencies through artworks.
We hope that Graphics Open² will be described as a challenging event what manage to bring an exciting segment of contemporary artistic graphics from Central Europe to Budapest.
